Hi to all,

My father passed away on Easter Sunday. I have a VHS tape that he made some years ago with various holiday gatherings on it and I would like to convert the VHS to DVD to make copies to give to my family when I go back for his memorial.

Does anyone have a VHS player that I could even watch the video on? What would be awesome is if someone has one that can record from VHS to DVD so that I could make a master copy. I don't have money to go to a professional place, so any help from the community would be awesome.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Peace, Lisa

Good afternoon, I posted the blurb (below) a few weeks ago, under "Ask the Pastor", I believe, but still haven't heard a reply. Guess I needed to post the question elsewhere?! Anyway, I'm hoping someone can answer these questions for me.

Thanks, Andrea

Doctrinal Letters
by duerkop on May 6th, 2009, 3:00 pm

I'm in the process of reading the entire Bible again (am currently in Joshua). I'm using a Life Application Bible this time, and have found the "notes" that help the reader understand culture, difficult to understand passages, background/context, etc. extremely helpful. However, I've come across several verses that are either surprising or seem to go against what I understand God's character to be, and they aren't accompanied by a "note" to help me figure them out. I'm not legalistic, but have encountered enough of these passages that my curiosity has now turned into a question. A forum topic, initiated some time ago by a lady named Marlyce, discussed the differences in the books of the Bible - i.e. how Psalms is not to be taken as doctrine. So I guess my questions are, which books of the Bible are to be taken as doctrine? And if a verse in one of the books to be taken as doctrine seemingly goes against God''s overall character, then how do I, as a non-theologian, interpret that? My faith is strong, and I accept what the Bible says as 100% true, but would just like to know more about this issue.

Thank you for your time.

Hello,

The past couple of days I have been experincing extreme pain.....healing pain. I have had to slow down back to sqaure one and take everything one minute, hour, a day at a time. The process will take a few months and I have gotten some of the pain under control with a pain reliever. But it's very hard and I am extremely limited physically and have been very emotional. My husband has been wonderful doing everything and talking me through my emotions. I told him that I just need to know that everything will be okay and I will be okay. So please continue to pray for me.

Thank you,

Hello Bill! Just wondering if the forums are "advertised" in any way. I think PCC is a rather large church and it seems like no one is using the forum. Maybe they forgot it's here? I know there are a lot of people hurting and so I would have expected more "action" here. Thank you!

Thank you for praying for me. I am doing well, healing, and sleeping. I feel almost 100% and no pain!! Thank the Lord! And I just wanted to thank Carol Essig and Ana Verhust (sorry if I missed spelled the last name) who sent me get well cards from Pantano. I have never received a get well card from a church and that was very special. This experience has given me a new perspective on somethings that I viewed in a different light. And it has encouraged me to become more involved with people and church. Please keep on praying ! It works! GOD is AWESOME!

I just wanted to let you know how my surgery went on August 28, 2009. We arrived at St. Joe’s and within a few minutes I was taken back to prepare for surgery. Standing there is Julie Wesley and I thought wow Julie is here to see someone. Julie approached me and said that she came to pray with me. Awesome! Pastor Bill Fisher sent out an e-mail asking the PCC staff if anyone knew me and Julie responded. She we went into the changing area with me and said the most encouraging, powerful, and lovely prayer. The nurse came by to see if I had changed into the gown yet but had not. Then I looked up and there stood an elderly gentleman. He asked if I was Lorraina Kestner and I said yes and he said that he was St. Joe’s Clergy staff and would like to pray for me. I said awesome come on in. He prayed a wonderful prayer of healing, peace, and a quick recovery. He had just left when the nurse saw that I was changing as quickly as possible. She said you had company and I told her they were sent from God.
I awoke in the recovery room and I was conducting an orchestra of Angels that were playing the most unusual, lovely, peaceful music I cannot even describe it. The nurse sitting next to me said what are you doing with your hands? And who are you smiling at? I said you can’t see them? There is an orchestra of Angels that I am conducting. The nurse said you’re not there yet for now you have to keep your hands and arms at your sides.
Then I was being pushed into my room for the evening I was telling the nurses that “they rocked”, “Girls rule”, “that I loved them”, and “that they need to paint the recovery room pink”. The Nurse was smiling and she said but blue is soothing.
The doctor wants me to rest and take it easy until I see him on August 12, 2009.
Thank you for all your prayers which helped me through another surgery. I was greatly blessed by this experience and appreciate the PCC Community Forum.
Thanks again & God Bless,
Lorraina Kestner
GOD RULES!

Hi,
I would not usually do this kind of thing but the Lord is making me (gently) ask for help from others in the Christian Community. I have been attending Pantano for the past 3 years or so and have make a few connections. But I have had some health challenges along the way which at times have prevented me from becoming more involved. Plus along time ago I was deeply hurt by fellow believers so it takes time for me to trust others.

In 1986 on my way to a University in California I was rear ended by a drunk driver. This incident changed my life, my health, and lead me to the Lord. A few months ago I started to experience pain and headaches and to make a long story short I have a nerve that is being pinched and bone spurs on the right side of my neck due to this accident.

I am scheduled for surgery at St. Joes Neuro Surgerical Center 7/28/08 at 12:00 p.m. Please pray for Doctor Matthew Wilson and his staff and that the surgery will be perfect.

The past few years have not been the best for me. I have had three surgeries on my left shoulder/neck/back for tumors, last year I was bit on the mouth by a neighbors pitbull, and now this. I know that God is in control and he has a plan and purpose for my life but after this I would like to retire for surgeries.

Thank you for your prayers and God Bless,
Lorraina Kestner

What is podcasting?
From Wikipedia: Podcasting is the method of distributing multimedia files, such as audio or video programs, over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on mobile devices and personal computers. The term, coined in 2004, combines ‘iPod’, a popular portable audio device, and ‘broadcasting.’

Here are some answers to common questions about the PCC Podcast:

I click PODCAST and nothing happens.
The button is for iTunes users. It will open iTunes and download the podcast automatically. To subscribe with iTunes, you need at least version 4.9. Download iTunes from Apple, it’s free.

Can I use a podcast reader other than iTunes?
Yes, you can use any podcast-capable RSS reader. Click the button to open the RSS feed in your favorite reader.

Do I need an iPod to listen to weekend messages?
No. Messages are available to play in both audio and video format through a streaming Flash player. You can also click the “Download mp3" link to download the audio file to your computer. You can listen to the mp3 files with any mp3-compatible software or player (e.g., Windows Media Player, WinAmp, etc.)

How many messages will be available in the podcast?
The audio podcast will offer all of the past messages for free (from 08/13/2006).

Can I burn a CD of the podcast?
As long as it is not for resale or profit, you may burn the audio to a CD.

How frequently will you update?
Updates are available weekly. Usually the audio is posted by Sunday morning, and the video is finished uploading and encoding shortly after.

What format is the podcast available in?
The podcast is encoded in the mp3 format. For the technically-minded, it is a mono (single-channel) MPEG 2 Layer 3 audio file, encoded at a constant bitrate of 32, with a sampling rate of 22khz. It is edited using Soundtrack Pro and encoded using Max.

PCC Podcast »
